Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.
The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
