According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a source provided information indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the clemency request remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her guests.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to contact and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the Texas facility than her former location.

In August, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also once acted as the President's private attorney.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also announced that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the chief executive to deny the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a possible clemency for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange her with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or agents have made any promises to the President or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by 24 November.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
